The Petit Family Foundation recently awarded Grants to The Sunshine Kids Foundation, CT-ALIVE, Trinity College and The Injury Prevention Center at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
The Petit Family Foundation honors the memories of Jennifer Hawke-Petit, Hayley Elizabeth Petit, and Michaela Rose Petit by continuing the kindness, idealism and activism that defined their lives. The Foundation's funds are given to foster the education of young people, especially women in the sciences; to improve the lives of those affected by chronic illnesses, and to support efforts to protect and help those affected by violence.
The Grant to The Sunshine Kids Foundation will be used to take a group of local Sunshine Kids from Connecticut Children's Medical Center and Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital on a ski and snow tubing adventure in the Berkshires.
CT-ALIVE helps women every day reclaim their lives after abuse. It supports free services that provide motivational tools and invaluable resources for survivors to grow, heal and "thrive" after abuse.
Trinity College will use their Grant for hosting of the CT-AAUW one day Tech Savvy Conference for girls in grades six through nine. The event will feature successful women professionals talking about how STEM fields can lead to exciting careers. There will also be hands-on, skill-building workshops for the girls to participate in.
